How can I cool my bedroom?

The back of my house is rather open and during light hours is constantly getting beat on by the sun. My bedroom has two windows on the back of the house were they are constantly getting sun, and during the day that room gets extremely warm. The rest of the house can be chilly but my room will be extremely warm. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep my room cooler?
